What happens during our first session?

Our initial meeting is a gentle, pressure-free opportunity to explore what brings you to therapy. We will talk through your current concerns, what you hope to gain from our time together, and give you space to ask any questions to see if we feel like a good fit.

How do in-person sessions work?

In-person sessions take place my quiet, confidential, and comfortable practice room in Blandford Forum. We meet at a set, recurring time each week to ensure continuity and a steady therapeutic routine.

Are online and phone sessions equally effective?

Yes. Remote therapy offers the same level of care, depth, and support as meeting in person. Sessions take place via a secure video platform or by telephone, offering flexibility if you commute, travel, or prefer to speak from the comfort of your home.

How should I prepare for my session?

You do not need to prepare notes or know exactly what to say. If you are attending online or by phone, simply ensure you are in a private, quiet space where you will not be interrupted and feel comfortable speaking openly.

Is what we discuss strictly confidential?

Yes, your confidentiality is paramount. Everything shared in our sessions remains strictly private, adhering to professional codes of ethics. Standard legal and safeguarding exceptions will be clearly explained during our initial consultation.

How many sessions will I need?

The duration of counselling depends entirely on your personal goals and needs. Some clients find short-term therapy of six to twelve sessions helpful for a specific issue, while others benefit from longer-term, open-ended support. I offer 90 minute one off appointments which are designed to manage an immediate specific focus which is troubling you. If you feel 90 minutes would not be enough, this is not the correct option for you. We can discuss this in our 15 minute free consultation.

Where can I find information about fees and cancellations?

Full details on session fees, payment terms, and cancellation policy are clearly outlined in the practical details page to help you plan your therapy with total transparency.

How can I learn more about your qualifications and approach?

You can read about my professional background, core values, and gentle integrative approach in the My Approach and About Kate pages.
